“Mayfly - byť či nebyť”
One man – one stage – one life
Tragicomedy (slapstick, clown, pantomime)
for teenagers and adults
Duration 90 minutes, no intermission, nonverbal
Directed by: Maike Jansen
Comprehensive, compelling, humorous. A 24-hour biography that packs a punch. In a blend of slapstick, clowning, pantomime, and acting, pohyb's and his colleagues immerse the audience in a world beyond language, exploring failure and success, dreams and reality, and the race with and against time – nonverbal theater not entirely without language.
The use of words in the Slovak language focuses attention on nonverbal communication and makes the experience of being a "foreigner" tangible.
The daring flight of the mayfly "Mucha," her grand dream of conquering the world of the stage, comes to an abrupt end with an early fall. The story seems to have barely begun before it's over. But expectations are dashed, and success arrives by the back door. As the clock ticks toward its imminent end, the mayfly discovers the here and now: the stage, the audience. Initially stammering with stage fright, she transforms before the audience's eyes into a magnificent actor.
With her game she wins his heart, only to relive the most important stages of her life once more when the ticking stops....
